Gotham - Season 3 Episode 08: Mad City: Blood Rush
Season 3 opens with Gordon working in a monster-ridden Gotham as a bounty hunter and seeking to find answers about the Indian Hill escapees and why their powers appear to be killing them. Bruce's doppelganger roams the streets and Barbara and Tabitha open a nightclub called The Sirens.

Gotham hadn't exactly been wasting Michael Chiklis, but this arc is really taking advantage of the fact the show has such a tremendous talent on the cast.

Penguin and Nygma's complex and deliciously tragic relationship could have been a high point in a season that sorely needs one, but that would have required nuance and after three seasons, I can't make excuses anymore -- Gotham just can't do it.

"Blood Rush" works perfectly as a showcase for a Captain Barnes rapidly losing control of his own mind.

"Blood Rush" shined a bright spotlight on Barnes for the first time since his introduction. I like that he's been spun into the show's new villain, and how it also feels like a natural "Mad City" extension of the Hatter arc.

Gotham may have temporarily put a pin in its Mad Hatter storyline last week, but the "Mad City" still has plenty of wild cards still in play.
