Gotham - Season 1 Episode 10: Lovecraft
Gotham is the origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. James Gordon and Harvey Bullock are assigned to track down the killer of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The story behind Commissioner James Gordon';;;;;s rise to prominence in Gotham City in the years before Batman';;;;;s arrival. Along the way, Gordon becomes involved with Gotham';;;;;s Mafia families and associates including gangster Fish Mooney, Don Carmine Falcone, and Italian mob boss Salvatore Maroni. Eventually, Gordon is forced to form an unlikely friendship with Bruce, one that will help shape the boy';;;;;s future in becoming the Batman.

Overall, the series has turned itself around. At this point, tweaking a few awful characters seems like small potatoes.

This is a show that could use a little deliberation from time to time -- but if "Lovecraft," the midseason finale, is any indication of what a stretched out story looks like on Gotham, then we're in for a tedious back-half of the show's first season.

If anything, this iteration of Alfred shows that there can be a positive to changing up the Batman mythos.

At the very best, it was actually really... right? Like, right for the characters these two become eventually. I enjoy the fact that Selina just can't get rid of Bruce, even though there is no conceivable reason why she wouldn't.

Tonight was Gotham's big chance to leave the fall television season with a bang, and convince us that this is a show worth returning to after the winter break.

The fall finale of Gotham, "LoveCraft," wasn't the best episode of the series yet, but it did set up a very promising second half of Season 1.

Forget waiting a decade-plus for Lil Wayne to grow into Batman: Gotham should just fit Sean Pertwee for the cape and cowl right now, he was so much fun to watch tonight.
