Castle - Season 1
Rick Castle is one of the world's most successful crime authors. He is asked to consult with the New York City police about a serial-killer case in which the murderer is reenacting scenes from Castle's books. Beckett, an avid reader of Castle's books, initially disapproves of having Castle shadow her work, but later warms up and recognizes Castle as a useful resource in her team's investigations.

Castle could be all kinds of fun.

Fillion's performance is top-notch and his character's off-key relationship with his mother and daughter adds a charming element to the series that makes it more than the usual police procedural.

This first outing gives it plenty of room for improvement, but also plenty of space in which to grow.

Castle might be a palatable program for viewers who tune in after Dancing with the Stars.

This sort of banter takes up a good portion of the Castle premiere episode, each instance of it reinforcing the always-already familiar premise.
