Season 9 begins when Daniel decides to complete the investigation and puts Eric Sorenson to rest. The team returned to work, with two cases of night observation. On the other hand, Rodriguez wants Cebovic to share with Clarke in a moment, but Cebovic rejects that signal by abandoning his former partner and reaching out to a former partner named John.

The season seems promising, if not fresh. NYPD Blue long ago lost the right to that adjective, but a renewed national interest in and respect for cops could give this series an unexpected boost.
