Season 6 follows a new drama, where Mike B. is questioned by the Senate Intelligence Committee. This questioning appears to be the beginning of further investigations into whether McCord's campaign is conspiring with Iran to steal the election. Meanwhile, Elizabeth must avoid a serious investigation that threatens her first major legislation in her presidency.

All in all, Madam Secretary did the best it could with the limited time its been given, which made for a strong season premiere, yet fell far short in comparison to the five previous seasons.
