In this competitive show, artistic producer Jermaine Dupree begins to select the five aspiring rappers to contract So So Def Recordings. All young people aspire to win the competition as the boot camp of the rapper begins. The contestants meet with the rap star TIP and offer the best performances in front of insiders who evaluate performances including Da Pratt and Michael Bryan Cox.
