During the ninth season, Early treats things differently, especially as he discovers the value of hard work done by someone else in the meantime. Early still suffers from his wrong choices, especially since he may choose the wrong side in the battle for equality in marriage. Meanwhile, Early is injured in the leg and suffers, and a rusty commits a new criminal offense that changes course.
