Season 3 unfolds with Peyton telling Lucas about Elisabeth who claims to be her dead mother but knows things and her father revealing that her dead mother is not her biological mother. Haley turns up at Nathan's house asking that work out their relationship but an emergency arises leading him to be called away to fire in Dan's office.
