Candice Bergen and company have resoundingly defeated the sophomore jinx: The second season of Murphy Brown was even better than the first, expanding the parameters of its characters' behavior and providing lots of belly laughs.

For the time being, Murphy Brown is one of those special television concoctions that somehow seem to make a half-hour flit by in 10 minutes. The series usually leaves you wanting more. And in the world of entertainment, there's no compliment more coveted.
