It's the season 8 premiere of the Gordon Ramsay home cooking show, MasterChef. This season Aaron Sanchez steps in as the permanent third judge alongside Christina Tosi. In 'Battle for the White Apron, Pt. 1,' 40 home cooks battle in Los Angeles for the coveted Top 20 slots for season 8. In a slight switch-up, the judges demonstrate different dishes and have the competitors whip up those dishes in order to win an apron. In season's past, the home cooks would whip up their signature dish for the judges.
