Though the original show was, at times, pretty campy, it had a kind of innocence and hopefulness about space and space travel that was still possible in the early 60s, when humanity was just touching the edge of space.

So maybe 1997 didn't look exactly way Lost In Space predicted back in 1965, but don't let that take away from your enjoyment of the show.

It's a bit slower than more contemporary science fiction series, and the special effects are a pretty hokey compared to today's sophisticated computer graphics. But the stories are entertaining, and appeal to viewers of all ages.
