Happily, the producers honor the "comic" as well as the "book" parts of Chance's heritage, and at times "Human Target" seems equal parts comedy and drama.

The actors, including Valley, are but cogs in the wheel of suspense. Someone needs to hold the guns and steer the barreling train.

[Valley]'s reliable, but as an actor, he's the equivalent of a fireman calendar -- okay to look at, and then what? The "Human Target" is cardboard.

"Human Target" is a throwback to action-adventure shows of the 1970s in both its uncomplicated nature and its frequent preposterousness.
