Davis is such a phenomenal actress that it's tempting and easy to say that she's better than the material she's given here, but hopefully she can elevate the show around to her level.

Even if you never grooved on Scandal, I'd still recommend giving Murder a try; it's easily one of the fall season's more entertaining pilots, and Viola Davis simply kills it.
