The second season picks up 24 hours after the storm and Elka's arrest on hiding stolen property. The season opens with Elka meeting up with an old friend while she is in prison and Melanie, Joy and Victoria holding a fundraiser to raise the money to pay her bail.

The comedy is not what you'd call inspired, but it's less brassy and brittle than it was when it first arrived, and the show's cast knows exactly how to play this kind of cheerfully one-dimensional material.

Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves and White have all been around the sitcom block and have fine-tuned not only their skillful line delivery, but their personae as well.
