The aspiring writer Emily Dickinson struggled in her life to reach her dream of writing and poetry. Emily was very embarrassed by her parents and ignored by her community. Emily decided to experience the challenge and did not stop anything to rebel against her tough background. Dickinson tries to make her voice heard through her writing.

The acting is terrible, and not in a let's-drink-wine-and-make-fun-of-it way. A primary problem is that the children speak in a 2019 manner and the adults speak with the more appropriate antebellum affect.
