Will Freeman, as his name suggests, is living a carefree life in San Francisco as a successful songwriter who has just written a hit song that allows him to be lazily unemployed. One day, when Fiona, a needy single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son, Marcus, move in next door, Will does not expect that he and the two would form such a close bond.

Basically, About a Boy has been expertly rigged in Walton's favor... but it can't solve the fundamental issue with any of the actor's shows: he's just not particularly appealing.
