A comedy tv-series that follows, Rel, a loving husband and father living on the West Side of Chicago. Suddenly, Rel discovers that his wife has an affair with his barber and the news quickly spreads, the thing that turns his reputation badly. He moves to live with recently out-of-jail younger brother, Nat, and Rel's prideful dad where he tries to forget this awful thing through comedy events with his brother, father and best friend, Brittany.

"Rel" feels like it's gone through the dreaded Network Comedy Blender rendering it "networkized," which means the setups are obvious, the payoffs conspicuous.

Diversity in prime-time is both laudable and necessary. But when this is the end result, it's better left undone. C'mon, Fox, do better. Do much, much better than this.

There's still room for improvement. Many a terrific sitcom has had a wobbly debut.
