BOP is an eminently watchable crime-of-the-week diversion, made more so by Ashley Scott's kung-fu spunk as Huntress and Dina Meyer's maturity as the handicapped ex-Batgirl.

It's as if the show doesn't exactly know what it wants to be; it tries to be witty and caustic and then to be serious, and fails at both.

The photography, sets and costumes are first-rate, but the acting settles into a glib, amateurish rut. The performers don't sell the illusion; they keep calling attention to it.
