The film tells us about a prostitute named Bree Daniel. She is a confident, powerful and treacherous woman. Bree is not a spoiled angel. She also never take notice of the opinions of others. She is tough, strong, and sshe is not ashamed of what she did to make money.

With Fonda and Sutherland, you have actors who understand and sympathize with their characters, and you have a vehicle worthy of that sort of intelligence. So the fact that the thriller stuff doesn't always work isn't so important.
