Iordanov was born in Varna, Bulgaria. He is the son of Mariana and Todor Yordanov. His mother was a professional rhythmic gymnast and his father was a professional soccer player. He has a younger brother named Bogdan.Iordanov began playing volleyball at age 10. He played college volleyball for Rutgers University in New Jersey.
